A shankha is a sacred conch shell used in Hindu religious rituals as a trumpet and a symbol of the god Vishnu, and also as a symbol of marital status in the form of white bangles (shankha pola) worn by Bengali Hindu married women. The shankha has a religious importance in Hinduism, and is considered auspicious, symbolizing creation and bringing good luck and abundance.
